UCM Participates in Statewide Tornado Drill March 4

For the second consecutive year, the University of Central Missouri will participate in a statewide tornado drill, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. The drill will last about 15 minutes, and will take place at the same time other drills are being conducted in communities across the state, including Warrensburg. All UCM students and employees are encouraged to participate in the event by taking the same precautions they would use during a real tornado emergency. Offices and classes are encouraged to temporarily cease operations while the event is in progress, and resume operations when the drill has concluded.

In 2012, more than 1,500 signs were posted in campus buildings notifying individuals where the closest safe areas are located. Members of the campus community are encouraged to review tornado procedures listed on those posters. The same information is also available on page 22 of the Emergency Operations Plan at the link provided below. Additional details about the drill will be provided to the campus community closer to the event.
