Special Honors & Awards
During commencement ceremonies, the University of Central Missouri awards special recognition to certain individuals in the form of honorary doctorates or Distinguished Service Awards. Both honors are bestowed by the university's Board of Governors. The honorary doctorate may be awarded to individuals who have amassed outstanding achievements in their fields, gained the respect of their peers, and, by virtue of their endeavors, brought honor to the university. The Distinguished Service Award may be bestowed upon individuals or groups who have rendered exemplary and extended service to the human race, society, and/or the university. The university would like for you to nominate individuals or groups you feel deserve consideration for such recognition. To nominate someone, please include: § your name and contact information; § the award type being suggested; § the name and contact information for the person you are nominating; § whether the individual is a UCM alumnus(a), and, if so, year of graduation; and § a summary of the accomplishments which you feel qualify this individual for the honor.
