Scholarship Opportunities

The University of Central Missouri's Office of Community Engagement facilitates several scholarships available to graduating high school seniors that will attend UCM and current students attending UCM.

These scholarships include:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded annually.  Scholarships are available to Kansas City Missouri School District, UCM Charter Schools, and Johnson County Missouri students in the amount of $2,000 for incoming UCM freshman and $1,000 for continuing UCM students.  Applications are available in the UCM Diversity Office, Community Engagement office and Scholarships Office. Scholarship applications are due March 1. The scholarship recipients are recognized at the annual MLK Freedom Scholarship Dinner held at UCM in January.

Cesar E. Chavez Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded annually. The first scholarship was given in April 2004.  The scholarship is for $2,500 per year and is renewable. The scholarship is presented at the annual Kansas City Cesar Chavez Festival. Applications are available in the Kansas City metro schools in fall. Scholarship applications are due by March 1.  This scholarship is coordinated by the Kansas City Hispanic community and the Kansas City Cesar Chavez Scholarship Committee.

Student Diversity Scholarship - This scholarship awarded annually. The Student Diversity Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Foundation for an undergraduate or graduate student of ethnic background and pursuing a degree at UCM. Applications are available in the UCM Office of Community Engagement and the Scholarships Office. Scholarship applications are due March 1.
