It is said that public speaking is one of people’s greatest fears. Fr. Jerry L. Winsor not only helped his students conquer their fear of public speaking, but often helped them become outstanding orators.
Dr. Winsor devoted 27 years of his life to the university before retiring recently as professor emeritus of speech communication. His retirement did not mean leaving the education field. He has accepted a new post as professor of speech communication and director of the Organizational and Human Relations Development Master of Arts Degree Program at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.
In addition to his work in the classroom, Dr. Winsor served on various university committees and groups, including the University Assessment Team and Committee on Committees, as well as a committee focused on Extended Campus.
Dr. Winsor was active in professional organizations dedicated to communication including the World Communication Association, National Communication Association, Central States Communication Association, and the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri.
He currently resides in Abilene, Texas, with his wife, Charlene.
