Sigma Tau DeltaSigma Tau Delta's central purpose is to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. One of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies, Sigma Tau Delta has over 600 active chapters, more than 900 faculty sponsors, and inducts approximately 7,000 members annually. Our members have the opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding achievements, enrich their education, help them make career choices, and advance their careers.
Members of every chapter have the opportunity to share their love of literature and linguistics with like-minded peers, participate in rewarding activities, and be recognized for their accomplishments. They may also apply, or in some cases instantly qualify, for one or more of the Society's numerous awards and scholarships.
Central Missouri's Gamma Theta chapter participates in a host of academic, service, and social activities. A few of these include campus poetry/fiction readings, attending international convention, organizing our annual book sale, high school tutoring, aiding Johnson County Literacy Program, as well as spending time with other members who share like interests.
Minimum of 2 college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements of freshman English. Minimum English GPA 3.00.
