Pleiades Review of Books Guidelines

For Publicists

The Pleiades Book Review and the Pleiades Book Review On-Line specialize in in-depth reviews of small- and university-press books of poetry, fiction, and literary non-fiction. We have a regular group of reviewers who select books for review from a bi-monthly list of books received. Each year, we print 150-200 pages of reviews, covering 30-60 books. We're one of a very few publications in the United States that specialize in reviews of small-press books.

For Reviewers

The Pleiades Review of Books does not accept unsolicited book reviews. If you're interested in reviewing a book, contact Kevin Prufer at pleiades@cmsu1.cmsu.edu. Review proposals should be for books published in the last 12 months only and preferably cover small- or university-press books.

Book reviews are typically 800-1,000 words, though they may be longer for multiple book reviews. Deadlines for first-time book reviewers are July 1 and December 1. For previous contributors, deadlines are August 1 and January 15.
