Meet the Faculty

Yue Cai-Hillon

Yue Cai-Hillon, Ph.D - Critical Inquiry for Strategic Advantage - has experience as a software developer and database administrator that gives her insight into the relationship between organizational vision and personal goals, the strategic value behind action-based planning and the hidden potential embedded within every organization.
With a consulting emphasis in strategic planning and socio-economic performance management, Cai-Hillon has mentored more than 60 undergraduate and graduate business student teams at UCM on 26 business development projects. Her mentor-based development process included start-up companies in industries such as manufacturing, biotechnology, alternative energy, engineering and design, lifestyle businesses, not-for-profit and education.

Mark Fulford

Mark D. Fulford, Ph.D. - Crafting Corporate Culture - brings extensive experience to the program as an executive coach and expert in corporate culture. His results include: successful culture change within an organization of more than 165,000 employees, an ROI on various initiatives of 17:1 and annual savings of turnover costs in excess of $15 million.
Widely regarded as a skilled facilitator and trainer, Fulford has presented to international audiences and was named "One of the Top 5 Up-and-Coming Consultants in the United States" by Consulting Magazine in 2001.

Degree: Ph.D. - Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management, Indiana University

Fulford has taught at the University of Central Missouri, Cornell University and California State University.

Eric Nelson

Eric M. Nelson, Ph.D. - Building Leadership Credibility - has 13 years of corporate experience working in management development training and organizational development. In Germany, he focused on outside sales training and sales management development for Safety-Kleen Corporation. He worked as a strategic planning consultant, with the majority of his experience focused on leadership development Fortune for 500 companies such as Motorola, Grumman, Safety-Kleen, Case and the University of Chicago Hospital.
Nelson is best characterized as a training and development specialist with interests in all of the functional areas of a business.

Degree: Ph.D. in Education specializing in Workforce Training, University of Illinois

Nelson has taught at the University of Central Missouri, University of Illinois, Saint Michael’s College and Norwich University.

Keith Province

Keith Province - Innovation for Strategic Advantage - has more than 20 years of management experience with Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurial ventures including Procter and Gamble, Coca-Cola USA and CROSSMARK. He has extensive experience and expertise in consumer package goods, telecommunications, retail, restaurants, financial services and start-ups. Province’s community service and leadership expertise includes serving on the advisory boards of Students In Free Enterprise, University of Central Missouri Foundation and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Degree: MBA and BSBA in Management, University of Central Missouri

Province has taught at the University of Central Missouri.

Carol Smith

Carol E. Smith - Critical Inquiry for Strategic Advantage - brings 17 years of corporate experience to the program, including eight years in commodity futures trading and nine years as vice president of operations for a highly successful information services firm. An information specialist, she holds professional training in competitive intelligence and specializes in geospatial business analysis.
Smith was named the 2008 Missouri Outstanding New Librarian and a 2009 American Library Association Emerging Leader.  She is the 2013 President of the Missouri Library Association.

Degree: M.S. Information Science; M.S. Information Systems; Graduate Certificate, Geographic Information Systems; Information Science & Learning Technologies (Ph.D. program, in dissertation phase)
