Course Title: Good Intentions – Bad Results Course (082814)
Date/Time: August 28, 2014; 8:00 - 5:00PM
Location: Central Missouri Police Academy, University of Central Missouri, 200 Ming Street, Warrensburg, MO 64093
This course is sponsored by the Institute for Public Safety/Central Missouri Police Academy with the Missouri Safety Center, UCM, and includes realistic information and a case study on the practical application of ethics. The case study (movie) is an excellent, true story demonstrating how far problems associated with ethics and corruption can go. The movie will be shown in segments, between which we will identify where the discussion points were illustrated. The course is designed to demonstrate that ethics is not just a topic for theoretical discussion, but rather for practical, daily application. Officers often believe that ethical practices are not important until they find themselves facing internal discipline, law suits, criminal prosecution, prison, or even loss of life. Special attention is focused on the unfair personal and professional burden that is placed on fellow officers when some cross the line.
This is a P.O.S.T. certified training course providing 8 Hours of Interpersonal Perspectives Credit.
Tuition is $99 through August 8th (Early Bird Special Rate) and $119 August 9-28th. Full payment is required before start of class. Participants can pay via credit card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover), check made payable to the Missouri Safety Center or purchase order number (you will receive an invoice). Refunds (minus a $15.00 cancellation fee per person) will only be issued if cancellation notice is given at least two weeks prior to your class date.
