Course Title: Three Course Law Enforcement Training Bundle (0922-2414)
Date/Time: September 22-24, 2014
Location: Benson Convention Center, 1008 E. Sedalia Street, Clinton, MO 64735
This course is co-sponsored by the Institute for Public Safety/Central Missouri Police Academy with the Missouri Safety Center, UCM; Midwest Police Consultants, LLC; and the Clinton Police Department. This three course training bundle includes: Specialized Crime Scene Response Course (092214), Good Intentions – Bad Results Course (092314) and Legal Update Course (092414).
Specialized Crime Scene Response Course (092214) covers crime scenes and initial investigations that require specific actions and understanding, to avoid injury and loss of evidence such as: death investigations, meth lab discovery/response, child abuse, WMD discovery/response, and sexual assaults, up to and including the bizarre and unusual. This is highly applicable to rural and small jurisdiction officers who may not encounter these types of crimes with the frequency required to stay sharp on procedures. This is a P.O.S.T. certified training course providing: 6 hours of Technical Studies, 4 hours of Interpersonal Perspectives, and one hour of Legal Studies credit.
Good Intentions – Bad Results Course (092314) includes realistic information and a case study on the practical application of ethics. The case study (movie) is an excellent, true story demonstrating how far problems associated with ethics and corruption can go. The movie will be shown in segments, between which we will identify where the discussion points were illustrated. The course is designed to demonstrate that ethics is not just a topic for theoretical discussion, but rather for practical, daily application. This is a P.O.S.T. certified training course providing 8 Hours of Interpersonal Perspectives credit.
Legal Update Course (092414) provides updates on Missouri and federal law changes that affect daily law enforcement work. This subject is law enforcements "stock in trade" and failing to keep current on law changes results in increased court time, refusal of charges, and lost cases; all of which are preventable. The course will be presented by an active prosecuting attorney. This is a P.O.S.T. certified training course providing 8 Hours of Legal Studies credit.
Tuition is $299 and full payment is required before start of class. Participants can pay via credit card (MasterCard, VISA, and Discover), check made payable to the Missouri Safety Center or purchase order number (you will receive an invoice).
