I. FUNCTION
A. To establish appropriate criteria
for size, membership, organization, function(s) and duration of
all university-wide academic and/or faculty welfare committees
and any other committees the Senate shall direct it to create
B. To ensure that all faculty are
notified of standing committee vacancies by distributing to each
faculty member, prior to April 1, a faculty committee selection
survey with a list of all committees that include Senate
appointed membership. Each faculty member may select those
committees on which he/she would be willing to serve
C. To submit nominees to fill
non-elected or administratively appointed positions on standing
Faculty Senate and University/Administrative committees
D. To conduct periodic reviews of the
charges of all Faculty Senate and University Administrative Committees and
to recommend changes
when needed
E. To review for relevancy any Faculty
Senate Committee that does not function for a two-year period
F. To contact the committee chair or
first-named member of each committee (if a chair has not been
selected) and the University administrator to whom the committee
reports (if applicable) requesting that an initial
organizational meeting be called
G. To ensure the composition of all
committees and to reflect the academic, professional, and
cultural diversity of the faculty, ie., status, rank, gender,
race, and ethnicity
H. To consider
requests for the removal of committee members for
causes outlined in the Faculty Guide

III. MEMBERSHIP
A. Composition (11 members)
1. Two faculty members from each college
and L/AE
2. Vice President of the Faculty Senate
B. Selection
1. Faculty members elected by respective
units
2. Vice President of the Faculty Senate
(ex officio/non-voting-- votes only in case of a tie)
C. Selection of Chair
Vice President of the Faculty Senate
shall be chair
D. Term of Service
1. Two years
2. After serving for two consecutive
two-year terms, a member will be ineligible for re-election for
a period of one year.
IV. COMMENTS
Actions taken and nominations made by
the FS Committee on Committees are subject to confirmation
by the Faculty Senate.
Once the FS Committee on Committees determines
that a vacancy exists, nominations will be made based on the charge
of the committee that has such vacancy.
The committee chair is responsible for
creating and maintaining a Procedures Manual, a copy to be kept
in the Faculty Senate Office.
Business may be conducted via
e-mail if that business would not entail/merit discussion. If a
committee member cannot be present at a meeting, that member may make
nominations or vote via phone by calling either the Faculty Senate office
professional or the chair of the Committee on Committees prior to the
meeting at which the nominations are being made or the vote is being taken.
Meets Mondays at 3:15 p.m. as required.
