Department of Biology and Earth Science

Students may apply for multiple scholarships. Most applications for the 2014-2015 academic year must be completed and submitted by March 1, 2014.  Be sure to check below for scholarships that have an application deadline other than March 1.

Name of Scholarship To apply, a student must:
Dr. John Belshe Biology Scholarship
  • To apply, a student must be a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student in good academic standing pursuing a degree in Biology or Biology Education and: 

  • be a student conducting research in Biology;

  • be a student interested in pursuing Field Biology as a profession;

  • be a student majoring in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or Wildlife and Natural Resource Conservation;
  • Preference will be given to students who meet all three criteria; however, selection committee may nominate candidate who meet any of the requirements if no candidate meets all three.
Ardyth C. Boucher Scholarship
  • be a female junior or senior student at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in science with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.25, or, be pursuing a degree in secondary education with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • have graduated from a high school located in a third-class county in Missouri (see application for details)
CenturyLink University of Central Missouri Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)
  • be a graduating high school senior and be accepted to UCM
  • reside within the CenturyLink service area
  • plan to pursue a major within the area(s) of education, science/environment, business/economics, marketing and/or math/computer science
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
CenturyLink University of Central Missouri Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student at UCM or be the spouse of a military person
  • be accepted and enrolled at UCM
  • reside within the CenturyLink service area
  • plan to pursue a major within the area(s) of education, science/environment, business/economics, marketing and/or math/computer science
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Julie A. Harpster Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in medical technology
  • be a graduate of a Missouri high school
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • demonstrate financial need
Dr. Sam P. Hewitt Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in a biological science
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in major
Charles Hinerman Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in biology or earth science
  • plan to enter the teaching profession
  • have a record of high scholastic achievement and a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • be involved in campus and community activities
  • possess high standards of character
Mattie and Mary Louise Hull Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in mathematics, computer science and/or science education with the intent to teach, or, be pursuing a degree in art or art education
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Kathryn Eydt Payne Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in biology
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of biology
H. Patrick and B. Kay Woolley Scholarship in Biological Science
  • be a full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a B.A., B.S., M.S., or B.S. in Education degree, majoring in biology
  • be a resident of a county in the greater Kansas City, Missouri metro area (Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass); however, if no students from these areas apply or are deemed eligible, other applicants shall be considered
  • demonstrate financial need
