Department of Career and Technology Education

Students may apply for multiple scholarships. Most applications for the 2014-2015 academic year must be completed and submitted by March 1, 2014.  Be sure to check below for scholarships that have an application deadline other than March 1.

Name of Scholarship To apply, a student must:
Laura Baker Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
Sandra Harlan Cockriel Scholarship
  • be a graduating high school senior and be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education (preference given to a student(s) planning to pursue a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences)
  • demonstrate good character, citizenship and outstanding academic achievement
  • recipients of the Sandra Harlan Cockriel Scholarship may re-apply each year for up to four (4) years (see application for details)
Wilda Dean Creighton Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in business education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Bill and Anne Downs Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be a non-traditional student (at least 25 years of age)
  • be pursuing a degree in graphics or industrial technology education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of graphic arts, drafting, photography, fashion merchandising and/or technology education
Edna Gehlken Scholarship in Home Economics
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences (shall include the areas of child development, family relations, nutrition, consumer education or home management)
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in major
  • be an active participant in at least one FACS or home economics related professional organization
Genge Family Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in marketing or business teacher education
  • demonstrate financial need
Elizabeth J. Giesler Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship
  • be a full-time senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences
  • plan to be student teaching within the area of FACS the following spring semester
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • show promise of leadership and service
  • demonstrate financial need
  • application deadline date: November 1
William R. Harmsen Scholarship in Technology Education
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in technology education
  • be worthy, deserving and show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of technology education
  • be admitted to the teacher education program at UCM
Hospitality Management Association Undergraduate Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in consumer services management (programs include: family and consumer science, dietetics, hotel and restaurant administration, tourism, general recreation and therapeutic recreation)
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in major
  • be an active member of the UCM Hospitality Management Association
  • be enrolled in a minimum of two (2) credit hours within the Department of Nutrition
Doris Houx Kirkpatrick Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences (however, if no student pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences apply or is deemed eligible, other students pursuing a degree in a closely related area to FACS shall be considered)
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of FACS
Ben E. Moore Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in technology education
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of technology education
Clarence Pearce Agriculture Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in agriculture
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of agriculture
  • be preparing for a career as a teacher of agriculture (however, if no students planning for a career as a teacher of agriculture apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to other students planning for a career in some other area of agriculture)
Doris Achenbach Sensenich Scholarship in Family and Consumer Sciences
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences
Elizabeth Collings Weekley Scholarship in Human Environmental Science
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences or dietetics and nutrition
  • demonstrate high morals
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a 3.5 in major
  • have a positive, pleasing personality
  • have excellent grooming habits and demonstrate potential of superior professional appearance
  • be a non-user of tobacco and drugs
  • demonstrate self-discipline and leadership and shall have the desire to make contributions to society
Beulah Gutridge Winfrey Scholarship
  • be a full- or part-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in business education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of business education
Rita L. Youman Scholarship in Home Economics
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences
  • be a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a 3.5 in major
  • be an active participant in a home economics-related professional organization
