Students may apply for multiple scholarships. Most applications for the 2014-2015 academic year must be completed and submitted by March 1, 2014.  Be sure to check below for scholarships that have an application deadline other than March 1.

Name of Scholarship To apply, a student must:
L. H. Allen Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in the field of teacher education, business or finance
  • be a graduate of Grain Valley R-5 High School in Grain Valley, MO, and graduated in the upper 15% of high school graduating class
  • be worthy, deserving, of good moral character, and show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education, business or finance
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.25 in major
Laura L. Raker Barr Scholarship for Teacher Education
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have been formally admitted to the teacher education program
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Leroy Barrows Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and be formally admitted to the teacher education program
  • show evidence of scholarship and leadership at UCM and/or within the College of Education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Dr. William Bell Scholarship for Student Teachers
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • demonstrate financial need
  • scholarship is to be used during semester of student teaching
  • Application deadline: October 15 and March 1
Laura Leigh Culp Botgat Memorial Scholarship
  • be an incoming freshman student that has been accepted to UCM
  • be a graduate of Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education, political science, modern language and/or international studies
  • demonstrate service to community and high school
  • preference shall be given to a student interested in studying abroad
Ardyth C. Boucher Scholarship
  • be a female junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in science with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 or be pursuing a degree in secondary education with an emphasis in science with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • have graduated from a high school located in a third-class county in Missouri (see application for details)
Bill and Nan Brame Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have been provisionally admitted to the teacher education program at UCM
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
Wm. Jasper and Martha Ann Breshears Memorial Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)
  • be a graduating senior of a high school located in Hickory County, MO (however, if no students from Hickory County, MO apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to graduating senior students from a high school located in Benton County, MO)
  • be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Wm. Jasper and Martha Ann Breshears Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service

  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM

  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • demonstrate financial need
CenturyLink University of Central Missouri Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)
  • be a graduating high school senior and be accepted to UCM
  • reside within the CenturyLink service area
  • plan to pursue a major within the area(s) of education, science/environment, business/economics, marketing and/or math/computer science
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
CenturyLink University of Central Missouri Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student or be the spouse of a military person
  • be accepted and enrolled at UCM
  • reside within the CenturyLink service area
  • be pursuing a major within the area(s) of education, science/environment, business/economics, marketing and/or math/computer science
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Byron and Maxine Chryst Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in elementary education or secondary education
  • be a graduate of a high school located in Benton, Henry, Pettis or Johnson County, MO
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative of GPA of 2.5
  • be admitted to the teacher education program
  • demonstrate financial need
Wayne L. and Anna M. Cleveland Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education (preference shall be given to a student pursuing a degree in elementary education)
  • meet requirements for membership in Kappa Delta Pi
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • demonstrate financial need
Clinton Family Memorial & Legacy Scholarship-Education
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in at least their second year of higher education pursuing a degree in Education
  • have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
  • demonstrate active participation in degree related organizations on campus and in the community
  • demonstrate financial need
Sandra Harlan Cockriel Scholarship
  • be a graduating high school senior and be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education (preference given to a student(s) planning to pursue a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences)
  • demonstrate good character, citizenship and outstanding academic achievement
  • recipients of the Sandra Harlan Cockriel Scholarship may re-apply each year for up to four (4) years (see application for details)
Curriculum and Instruction Retired Faculty Outstanding Student Teacher Award
  • have proven to be an outstanding student teacher
  • be pursuing a degree in early childhood, elementary and/or middle school education at UCM
Joan Marie Eighinger Scholarship
  • A full-time junior or senior undergraduate student must be in good academic standing and working towards a secondary teaching degree in Physical Education and/or English (preference given to a student pursuing a double degree in Physical Education and English) and: 

  • must have a minimum grade point average of 2.7 if a single degree major or 2.5 if a double degree major; and

  • demonstrated participation and leadership in campus/community/department activities in the field of Physical Education and/or English.

Ted R. and Mary B. Garten Diversity Scholarship
  • be a student at UCM and have been admitted to the teacher education program
  • be an active member of Leading Educator Advocates for Diversity (LEAD)
  • be from a minority or under-represented group and/or have demonstrated a commitment and passion for multi-cultural education in the classroom
  • hold a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Ada M. Griffin Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)
  • be a graduating senior of a high school located in Bates County, MO
  • be accepted to UCM and plan to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • have demonstrated leadership and service in the Bates County, MO community
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • demonstrate financial need
Ada M. Griffin Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be a graduate of a high school located in Bates County, MO
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • have demonstrated leadership and service in the Bates County, MO community and the UCM community
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • demonstrate financial need
Charles N. Hagan Scholarship
  • be a full-time junior, senior or graduate student at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have been accepted into the teacher education program or into the graduate degree program at UCM

Homer and Marilyn Hampton Mathematics Education Scholarship

  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in elementary education or middle school education with a minor in mathematics (grades 5-9)
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in at least 2 mathematics courses in the mathematics minor program for teaching mathematics in grades 5-9
  • show promise of initiative, leadership and service
Margaret Simpson Haugh Scholarship
  • be a full-time student at UCM in good academic standing
  • be pursuing a degree in elementary teacher education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of elementary teacher education
  • be a graduate of Butler High School in Butler, MO (however, if no applicants from Butler High School apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to graduates of high schools located in Bates County, MO)
Margaret Winn Haynes Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be a resident of rural Missouri
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
Dr. Eldo and Viola Hendricks Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education in women's physical education or a degree in chemistry
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in major
James A. Hudson Excellence in Teaching Scholarship
  • be a graduate student in good academic standing at UCM
    be actively pursuing a Master of Science in Education Degree in either elementary education, secondary education or reading; individuals pursuing a Master of Science in Education Degree within an academic discipline are eligible
  • have an approved master's program of study within the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education or Department of Educational Foundations and Literacy
  • have earned the Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from UCM
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Voncile Bowen Huffman Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have completed an application to student teach
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • be in good standing within the teacher education program
  • be committed to pursuing a career in education, particularly as a teacher in the public school system
  • demonstrate financial need
  • Application deadline: October 15 and March 1
Martha L. Johnson Education Scholarship
  • be a  graduating senior of Odessa High School located in Odessa, MO
  • be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • rank in the upper 25% of high school graduating class
  • demonstrate dedication and leadership by holding membership in three (3) or more school, church or community organizations
  • demonstrate financial need
Marjorie Curtis Jones Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have a physical disability (preference shall be given to visually impaired students)
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be an active member of Kappa Delta Pi
  • be preparing to be a teacher in either college or the public schools
  • demonstrate financial need

Homer Kempfer Scholarship

  • be an international student who is a citizen of a Central American country (secondary consideration shall be given to an international student who is a citizen of a Latin American country)
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing
  • be pursuing a graduate degree in teacher education (secondary consideration shall be given to an undergraduate senior student pursuing a degree in teacher education)
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.1 in major
Vernon Kennedy Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be admitted to the teacher education program
  • be a graduate of a Missouri school district with fewer than 2,000 students in K-12
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Rex and Marie Lawson Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in education
  • be a resident of Johnson County, MO
    demonstrate good character, leadership and service
Mildred Fyrne Leaton Scholarship
  • be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • demonstrate financial need
Richard A. Luehrman Art Scholarship (for student teachers)
  • be a full-time senior student pursuing a degree in art education
  • demonstrate leadership and service to the Department of Art
  • plan to student teach during the fall semester
Fanita Marie Davis McCubbin Art Education Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in art education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Beulah McFarland Teacher Education Scholarship
  • be a graduating senior of Clinton High School in Clinton, MO
  • be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • show promise of leadership, service and a strong desire to become a teacher
Merville L. Meverden Scholarship
  • be a full-time senior student in good academic standing at UCM (however, if no senior students apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to a second-semester junior)
  • be pursuing certification to become a classroom teacher at the secondary level
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability
  • be a U.S. citizen
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Corrinna Harte Nance Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be a graduate of Osceola High School in Osceola, MO (however, if no students from Osceola High School apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to graduates of high school located in St. Clair County, MO)
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education and show promise of being an exemplary teacher
  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
Phillips Family Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • pursuing a degree in Education
  • preference given to a student from Carroll County, MO
  • demonstrate financial need

Prewitt Family Scholarship

  • be a full-time senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be preparing to begin semester of student teaching
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be a graduate of a high school located in Independence, MO, Lee's Summit, MO or Kansas City, MO
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • scholarship must be used during semester of student teaching
Gordon R. and Eula A. Renfrow Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)

Dorothy Martin Strate Scholarship
  • be a full-time non-traditional undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education

  • demonstrate good character, leadership and service

Linda Holman Struchtemeyer Scholarship

  • be an incoming freshman student and be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a major in elementary education, special education, secondary education or industrial technology education (see application for details)
  • rank in the upper one-third of graduating senior class
  • have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • score a minimum of 18 on the ACT
  • demonstrate good citizenship through participation in high school activities
  • demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership and character
Supervisor's Award for Student Teachers
  • be a student teacher at UCM
  • demonstrate outstanding teaching during student teaching semester as evaluated by university supervisor
  • demonstrate a commitment to an extended career in teaching
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
   
Argyle O. Wakeman Memorial Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education
  • demonstrate financial need
  • have a rural, farm-life background (however, if no students with a rural, farm-life background apply or are deemed eligible, other students meeting criteria shall be considered)
Christy Cox Whitley Memorial Education Scholarship
  • be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • be a graduate of Fort Osage High School (however, if no students from Fort Osage High School apply or are deemed eligible, other students meeting criteria shall be considered)
  • be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of teacher education at any level
Katherine H. Wilson Scholarship (for incoming freshmen students)
  • be a graduating high school senior and be accepted to UCM
  • plan to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • demonstrate financial need
  • have been a former patient of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO (however, if no former patients of CMH apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to all other applicants meeting criteria)
Katherine H. Wilson Scholarship
  • be a full-time student in good academic standing
  • be pursuing a degree in teacher education
  • have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • demonstrate financial need
  • have been a former patient of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO (however, if no former patients of CMH apply or are deemed eligible, consideration shall be given to all other applicants meeting criteria)

D. Maude Wright Scholarship

  • be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing at UCM
  • be pursuing a degree in education
  • be a resident of Morgan County, MO or Miller County, MO (however, if no students from Morgan County, MO or Miller County, MO apply or are deemed eligible, secondary consideration shall be given to students from the state of Missouri; third consideration shall be given to all other students meeting criteria)
  • demonstrate financial need
