Welcome to the University of Central Missouri






Several scholarships for freshmen entering University of Central Missouri were established by generous friends of the university. The eligibility criteria reflect the interests of the donors and therefore vary widely. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2008 unless otherwise noted.

Scholarship Criteria
Alumni Legacy Scholarship
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Child or grandchild of UCM alumnus who earned a 2-yr., 4-yr., Masters Degree, Specialist Degree or Cooperative Doctorate Degree
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership abilities in extra curricular activities
  • Possesses high standards of character
Clay J. and Oma C. Anderson Scholarship
  • Preference shall be given to a student who, because of parents' income, does not qualify for federal financial assistance
Aquila Scholarship
  • Senior attending an accredited high school served by Aquila
  • Ranks in the upper 25% of graduating class
  • Parent/guardian is residential or commercial Aquila customer (gas or electricity) 
  • Financial need will be considered
ARAMARK Facilities Services Scholarship
(for Dependents of UCM Physical Plant Employees) 
  • Dependent of a full-time employee of the UCM Physical Plant
  • Demonstrates good character, leadership and service

ARAMARK Facilities Services Scholarship
(for Warrensburg High School seniors)

  • Senior attending Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO
  • Financial need will be considered
  • Dependents of UCM Physical Plant employees are ineligible
Lucy Bergman Memorial Scholarship in Theatre
  • Plan to be an active participant in the Department of Theatre at the University of Central Missouri
  • Demonstrates leadership and service
Beta Sigma Psi-Pi Chapter Alumni Scholarship
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Demonstrates good character, leadership and service
  • Has a religious affiliation with the Lutheran Church
Jack C. Bodenhamer Memorial Scholarship
  • Senior attending Wellington-Napoleon High School in Wellington, MO
  • Rank in upper 1/3 of graduating class
  • Good citizenship demonstrated through participation in high school activities
  • Plans to pursue a degree in education
Boisseau Scholarship
  • Be a permanent resident of Johnson County, Missouri
  • Demonstrate superior academic success
  • Financial need will be considered
A. Ralph Boxell Eagle Scout Scholarship
  • Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America
  • Member of the Order of the Arrow and/or Mic-O-Say
  • Demonstrate service to church and Boy Scout troop
A. Ralph Boxell N0OHD Scholarship
  • Possess a valid amateur radio license of novice, technician, general, advanced or amateur extra class
  • Preference given to student enrolled in an electronics and/or radio-related class
Paul E. Brattstrom Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education

Breshears Memorial Scholarship
  • Senior attending a high school in Hickory County, MO (however, if no applicants from Hickory County, MO apply or are deemed ineligible, second preference shall be given to a graduate from a high school in Benton County, MO) 
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education
Michael E. Bush Aviation Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree in Aviation Technology
  • Active member of the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet that has passed the Mitchell Test

  • Be of Hispanic descent
  • Senior attending a high school in the following MO counties: Bates, Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte, Ray or the following KS counties: Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami, Wyandotte
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Financial need will be considered
Angel Conant Inspirational Scholarship
  • Senior attending Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO
  • Active member of Warrensburg High School Band during junior and senior year
  • Exhibits a level of motivation that inspires fellow band members
  • Demonstrates good work ethic and enthusiasm for involvement in the Warrensburg High School Band
Mrs. Jean Goolsby Doyle and Mrs. Cecilia Martin Elfrink Education Scholarship
  • Senior attending Crest Ridge High School in Centerview, MO
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Demonstrates good character, leadership and community service
  • Financial need will be considered
EMBARQ Scholarship
  • Reside within the EMBARQ service area
  • Plans to pursue a major within the area(s) of education, science/environment, business/economics, marketing, or math/computer science
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average

  • Plans to pursue a degree in Music
  • Auditions and is accepted as a member of UCM band or orchestra
  • Primary performance instrument is brass, woodwind or percussion

Jeffrey Floyd Forensic Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a major or minor in speech communication
  • Be an active participant in the forensics program in high school
  • Demonstrate outstanding contribution, performance, scholarship and leadership in forensic activities in high school
Freedom Scholarship
  • Senior attending high school in Johnson County, MO; Sedalia, MO; Kansas City, MO; or Kansas City, KS
  • Minimum 2.75 cumulative high school grade point average following the sixth semester
  • Demonstrate leadership in multicultural clubs and/or projects
  • Be a first-generation college student (i.e. parent/guardian never attended college/university)
  • Financial need will be considered
  • Postmark completed application by November 1 of applicant's senior year of high school
Gina Galetti Scholarship
  • Senior attending high school in North Kansas City, or be a dependent child living with a firefighter who is a member of the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department and who is a member of Local 42IAFF (International Association of Firefighters)
  • Demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • Be actively involved in high school and community services
Ada M. Griffin Scholarship
  • Senior attending high school in Bates County, MO
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Provides leadership and service in Bates County
  • Financial need will be considered
Mildred I. Harmon Scholarship
  • Missouri resident
  • Plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science or Electronics
  • Minimum ACT composite score of 23
  • Earned 3 units of math and/or computer science in high school

Henry County Scholarship
  • Senior attending a high school in Henry County, MO
  • Minimum 2.8 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Provides leadership and service in Henry County
  • Financial need will be considered
Jim and Alma Lee Hooker Scholarship
  • Senior attending Maysville R-1 High School in Maysville, MO
  • Provides leadership and service to community, church and/or school
  • Financial need will be considered
Thelma French Kappelman Scholarship
  • Be a student with a handicap disability
Mary Anne Kennedy Mathematics Scholarship

  • Show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of mathematics and computer science

Ruthe Boles Koenig Memorial Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with emphasis in history
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average in all history classes taken
Aaron M. Kreeger Memorial Scholarship
  • Demonstrate good character, leadership and service
  • Demonstrate an interest in bowling
  • Postmark completed application by July 1 
John Makeever Student Assistance
Fund
  • Senior attending a high school in Johnson County, MO
  • Financial need will be considered
  • There is no application for this scholarship.  A recipient is selected by the Scholarship Committee in each Johnson County, MO high school.
Beulah McFarland Teacher Education Scholarship
  • Senior attending Clinton High School in Clinton, MO
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • Displays good character, leadership and service
Charles Morley Sportsmanship Scholarship
  • Senior attending Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO
  • Participated in Warrensburg High School athletic program
  • Displays high degree of sportsmanship to opponents and team members
Lambda Chi Alpha J. P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship
  • Incoming male freshman who is a prospective member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Has participated in at least one (1) high school-sponsored competitive sport
  • Has held a leadership role in at least one (1) high school-sponsored student organization for at least one (1) full academic year
  • Postmark completed application by November 1
D. Elliot Mothersead Memorial Scholarship
  • Senior attending Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO
  • Financial need will be considered
  • There is no application for this scholarship.  Recipient is selected by Warrensburg High School Scholarship Committee.
Margaret C. Palmer Scholarship
  • Senior attending Elsberry R-II High School in Elsberry, MO
  • Ranks in the upper 40% of high school graduating class
  • Recipients selected annually by Margaret C. Palmer Scholarship Selection Committee of Elsberry, MO

Clyde and Evalene Paul Scholarship
  • Awarded to highest ranking senior (academically) from Otterville High School in Otterville, MO

C.O. and Mildred Putnam Scholarship
  • Senior attending a high school in Moniteau County, MO
  • Plans to pursue a degree in elementary teacher education
  • Displays good character, leadership and service
  • Financial need will be considered
Gordon R. and Eula A. Renfrow Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Financial need will be considered
  • Be a graduate of a Missouri high school with priority given in the following order:
  1. Boonville R-1 High School, Boonville, MO;
  2. other Cooper County public high schools, such as Cooper County R-IV, Prairie Home R-V, Otterville R-VI and Pilot Grove C-4;
  3. a public high school in the original 21 county catchment area of University of Central Missouri (counties include: Bates, Benton, Camden, Cass, Cole, Cooper, Henry, Hickory, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Maron, Miller, Montegue, Morgan, Osage, Pettis, Phelps, Pulaski, St. Clair, Saline);
  4. a public high school within the State of Missouri.
Joseph Ezra Roop Memorial Scholarship
  • Minimum 3.25 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Interested in journalism or genealogy
  • Financial need will be considered
Albert and June Scholle Scholarship
  • Senior attending Lafayette County C-1 High School in Higginsville, MO
  • Displays good moral character
  • Shows promise of leadership & academic ability
Peg Seifner Scholarship
  • Senior attending Morgan County R-1 High School in Stover, MO
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Demonstrates good character, leadership and service
  • Recipient selected annually by Morgan County R-1 School District Scholarship Committee

  • Preference given to student planning to major in mathematics
Dova Lee Shelton Memorial Scholarship
  • Senior attending Lakeland High School in St. Clair County, MO given first preference
  • Female student
  • Displays good character, leadership and academic ability

  • Senior attending Clinton High School in Clinton, MO
  • Ranks in the top 50% of graduating class
  • Active participation and good citizenship in high school activities

Stahl Specialty Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree within the University of Central Missouri's School of Technology: Automotive Technology Management, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Graphic Arts Technology Management, Industrial Technology 
  • Show promise of leadership and academic ability in one of the fields of technology
  • Be worthy, deserving and of good moral character  
Stahl Specialty Excellence in Technology Award 
  • Preference given to the outstanding designee of the annual technology competition hosted by University of Central Missouri
  • Plans to pursue a degree within the University of Central Missouri's School of Technology: Automotive Technology Management, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Graphic Arts Technology Management, Industrial Technology
  • Postmark completed application by May 15
Ona Ada Tipton Steffen Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree in teacher education
  • Female student
  • Displays good character, leadership and academic ability
  • Preference will be given to student(s) who are residents of rural Missouri
Linda Holman Struchtemeyer Scholarship
  • Even-numbered years awarded to senior attending Grandview Missouri High School; odd-numbered years awarded to senior attending Lexington Missouri High School
  • Plans to pursue a degree in elementary, special or secondary education, or industrial technology:  Vocational Agriculture Education, Business Education, Technology Education, Occupational Education,  Engineering  Technology, Electronics Technology,  Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology, Graphic Arts Technology, Construction Management, Industrial Technology or Industrial Technology-Manufacturing Management
  • Ranks in the upper one-third of high school graduating class
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average
  • Demonstrates good citizenship through participation in high school activities
  • Demonstrates outstanding scholarship, leadership, and character
  • Minimum ACT composite score of 18
Taiwan Commemorative Scholarship
  • Plans to pursue a degree in Industrial Technology (second preference shall be given to a student pursuing a major in a related program within the School of Technology: Automotive Technology Management, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Graphic Arts Technology Management)
  • Be worthy, deserving and of good moral character
  • Show promise of leadership and academic ability
  • Preference shall be given to students from Taiwan
