Should I bring a computer?

You don't have to. There are computer labs throughout campus. But some students do bring their own computers: Every residence hall room is wired for the Internet, including email and the Web. To use the campus network, you'll need an ethernet card installed on your computer (or you can purchase one on campus at Union Station) as well as any necessary accessories. What's the phone situation in the residences?

Students in the residence halls receive local phone service (Warrensburg area), plus free voice mail and call waiting. To make long distance calls, students receive an access code and are billed monthly.

Do the residences have cable?

All residence hall rooms have basic digital cable installed. For a fee, students can upgrade to a premium cable package.

Can I bring my stereo?

All residences permit stereos, and there are no size restrictions.

Can I bring other appliances?

Yes!  Microwaves using less than 750 watts are allowed.  4.5 cubic feet or less refrigerators are allowed or one that uses less than 1,000 watts.  The United Student Housing Association also rents refrigerators.

Why do I need a student ID?

Every UCM student is required to carry a current ID, which you'll use to check out equipment and library books, get into athletic and special events, and use computer labs and other facilities. To get your card, you'll need a current class schedule and one form of pictured ID, such as a driver's license, passport or military ID. 

How do I get cash on campus?

ATMs are located in the Elliott Union near the bookstore and in the student activities area, between the Union and the Recreation Center .  An ATM is also located on the main floor commons area of the Ellis Residence Hall complex.  See map…

What kind of clothes should I bring?

In Missouri, you'll experience all four seasons: winter, spring, summer and fall. During fall and spring semesters, temperatures can range from above 100 to below zero.

How do I know if my courses will transfer?

The first step is to attend orientation where you'll receive a DARS report. The report shows UCM's degree requirements, which degree requirements have or have not been met, and which courses are needed to complete the degree. Are pets allowed in the Residence Halls?

There are no pets allowed in University Housing other than aquarium fish.

How do I get involved on campus?

Joining a Student Organization is a great way to get involved on campus.  Each year during the Week of Welcome the Office of Campus Activities hosts an involvement fair.  UCM has over 225 student organizations to get involved with.  Click here ( http://www.ucmo.edu/oca/studentorgs/orglist.cfm ) to view a list of student organizations.
