Greek Week |
Greek Week is a Greek community annual tradition held during the spring semester. It is a week of events that celebrate Greek life and focus on service to the community while adding fun and excitment to the Greek experience. The Greek chapters participate in brotherhood/sisterhood activities, social events and multiple community service events.
Greek Week 2013:
Monday, April 1:
Opening Ceremonies - Football Field from 6-7 p.m.
Opening cermonies officially kick-off Greek Week. Watch and cheer as the Greek chapters showcase their chariots and their chapter's Greek God and Goddess.
Clothing drop-off will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
All Greek Social - Football Field from 7:30-10 p.m.
Tuesday, April 2:
Blood Drive - Union Atrium from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Bill Battle - Union Atrium from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
All chapters collect donations and proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Step Show - Hendricks Hall, 7 - 9 p.m.
Enjoy Greek chapters competing on their creativity, complexity, and synchronization. Entry fee is 2 school supply items (valued at $1 each). Proceeds go to the Teacher's Warehouse.
Wednesday, April 3:
Blood Drive - Union Atrium from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Dodgeball - Student Wellness and Recreation Center from 4 - 7 p.m.
All chapters will compete in the dodgeball tournament. Entry fees will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters
GAMMA Event - WC Morris from 8-10 p.m.
Thursday, April 4:
Capture the Flag - East Field by Ellis from 7-10 p.m.
All chapters collect donations and proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Canstruction - East Field by Ellis from 7-8 p.m.
All chapters collect donations and proceeds to benefit Warrensburg Food Pantry.
Friday, April 5:
Impact Leadership Lunch - Ozark Room in UCC from 12-1:30 p.m.
Mystery Event - Multipurpose Building from 8-10 p.m.
Saturday, April 6:
Go Big or Go Home Run.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. Race begins after welcome speech at 8:15 a.m. Supporting the foundation set up in memory of Blaine Whitworth, this run will start in downtown Warrensburg in front of Molly’s and end in front of Bodie’s. The cost of registration is $35.
Kiddie Carnival - Ridgeview Elementary Gym from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Greek community presents this fun kids' carnival featuring face painting, duck pond, bean bag toss, lollipop tree and more! Tickets are 25 cents each. A raffle will also take place. All proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Warrensburg.
Sweat Work - Main Street from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
All chapters will work in the community to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Variety Show - Union Ballroom, 7 - 9 p.m.
Enjoy each Greek chapter, as they put on a skit while singing and dancing. The entry fee is two canned goods per person. Canned goods will be donated to the Warrensburg Food Pantry.
Sunday, April 7:
Games Day - Fraternity Complex from 12 - 4 p.m.
Greek students compete in a variety of games including tug-of-war, obstacle course and more. Proceeds go to New Beginnings.
Monday, April 8:
Closing Ceremonies - Union Ballroom at 6 p.m.
This final event of Greek Week is an awards ceremony. Awards given are the Greek Man and Woman of the Year, Five Star Fraternity, Five Star Sorority, Stephen H. Petersen Award, Emerging Leader, Advisor of the Year, Member Education, Outstanding Campus Involvement, Chapter Programming, Leader of the Year, Scholarship, Philanthropy, and Public Relations. There are also several scholarships given at this event.
