Student talking about living on campus.

What is your favorite building?
My favorite building is Hosey because it is quiet and you have access to the library and computer lab downstairs.  Ellis is another favorite building because it is so big and you can meet so many people.  I also love the fraternity complex.  I love it here and I have lived here for over two years.  It’s so much fun; you are hanging around your friends the whole time.

Why did you decide to stay on campus?
Living on campus helped me to hold more leadership positions with my fraternity.  It is really convenient.  It has made it easier to be involved.

How has living on campus helped you as a student?
It has helped me because you are close to school.  You are always on campus and you don’t have to worry about how you are going to get to class if it snows the night before.  Everything is within walking distance.  Living on campus has really helped me be more involved and with group projects.  It is easier to plan and organize meetings for group projects when you are on campus.

I also work in the Technology Support Center on campus.  It is nice to work on campus because it helps give you more spending money.  The campus works really well with your scheduling and when you can and cannot work.  Living on campus helped me find a job.  I saw flyers and talked to them and living on campus was the reason I got a job.

Favorite program:
EPIC programs, Alcohol Awareness programs, Programs with public safety and the drug dog, diversity programs in the halls – they really helped me branch out and meet people who were different than me.

Favorite part about living on campus:
My favorite part about living on campus is being involved.  It helps keep me motivated to go to the library and to class because it is not that far.  You have more time to hang out too because you are not community.  It is easier to meet with academic advisors.  I love being close to the bowling alley too.

What buildings have you lived in and why did you choose those buildings?
I chose to live in Hosey, the first building I lived in, because it was quiet, relaxed, and I knew that I would be around other students that would help me stay focused and study.  Then I moved out to the fraternity complex to be more involved with my fraternity.

What is your best memory of living on campus?
I love watching the Homecoming parade every year.  I used to be in the marching band so I only go to see the end of it, but it’s still one of my favorite memories. I enjoy Greek Week every year too.

What are some of the benefits of living on campus?
The benefits are that on campus housing can be paid for through financial aid.  You don’t have to worry about paying rent every month or utility bills.  Another benefit is just knowing everybody.  There is always something to do.  I think being close to the dining halls and having a meal plan is another big benefit of living on campus.
