Reporting Absences

UCM employees must report an absence when they will be absent from work for any of the following reasons:

  • University Business
  • Professional Conferences
  • Vacation
  • Sick Leave (includes medical appointments)
  • Bereavement
  • Personal Leave
  • Workers' Compensation
  • Family Medical Leave
  • Compensatory Time
  • Jury Duty/Court Appearance
  • Military Leave
  • Tardiness

Exempt employees submit an absence only if the absence is in half or whole day increments, unless the employee is on Family Medical Leave. Exempt employees on FMLA should report the absence in one hour increments. 

Nonexempt employees submit an absence for any absence of 15 minutes or longer and report the absence in 15 minute increments on the form.
