2013 Schedule of Courses/Activities (TBA)
The Kodaly Summer program at the University of Central Missouri provides the
opportunity for music educators to receive teacher training in the Kodaly method
of music education. The Kodaly educators' main goals are to instill the love of
music in every student and to enable every learner to become musically literate.
These goals are accomplished by the use of age appropriate teaching methods and
materials, the use of musical tools and activities that enhance the learner's
ability to grasp concepts, and flexibility and creativity in the
teaching/learning process.
There will be three levels of training offered
during this two week summer session. Each level will include instruction in the
areas of musicianship, methodology, music literature, conducting, and choral
ensemble. The three levels of training are: Level I - Kindergarten and Grade 1,
Level II - Grades 2 and 3, and Level III - Grades 4 and 5. Satisfactory
completion of the previous level is required before placement in the next level
of training.
The
faculty members for this summer session will be certified
Kodaly instructors with extensive training in the Kodaly philosophy. The program
has received OAKE
National endorsement.
Each level will have 6 credit hours of graduate
credit.
Graduate tuition and mandatory fees for 2013 apply.
Cost does not include books or housing
