Marketing is the driving force behind the success of American business and industry. It provides the competitive edge that is so important to growth and prosperity in today's business world. That's why professionals who are skilled in identifying needs and promoting products and services to meet those needs are in high demand.
The Marketing program at the University of Central Missouri prepares students for a wide variety of marketing careers in business and industry. These job opportunities include advertising, promotion, product and brand management, retail management, distribution, marketing research, sales, and sales management. Marketing professionals are involved from the conception and development of a product or service to the final sale and distribution to the ultimate customer. Students may combine selected marketing elective classes to concentrate in areas such as professional sales, marketing communications or marketing management.
The Faculty have designed the marketing degree program to prepare students to assume leadership roles in the constantly changing and highly competitive business environment both in the United States and around the world. In addition to traditional theory and content knowledge, the marketing program requires the students to demonstrate analytical, interpersonal and communication skills which are critical to their success in career advancement. A comprehensive assessment program evaluates the student's progress in developing knowledge, skills and abilities.
Professional Business Organizations
In addition to their course work, students have the opportunity to become highly involved in a number of professional business organizations, including the American Marketing Association. The organizations allow students to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field, initiate contacts with leading professionals, and develop leadership skills. Students are encouraged to further enhance their program through participation in internships and international study opportunities.
