National Collegiate Sales Competition

2011 National Collegiate
Sales Competition

UCM Students compete at the National Collegiate Sales Competition

Each Spring, sales teams from various universities across the nation gather in Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the annual National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC). Students are judged on how well they perform during 20-minute sales presentations. The officials judging these presentations are a combination of college professors teaching sales and marketing, and sales and marketing executives. Presenting students have the opportunity to interact with CEOs, Directors of Marketing, Sales Managers and Human Resource Directors from major corporations at the job fair held in conjunction with the competition. Not only does the NCSC provide an excellent venue for student recruitment; it also allows students, marketing professors, and sales executives to come together and share knowledge with each other from their experience in the sales world.

The UCM sales team of Nora Reiling and Lindsay Odneal represented the Harmon College of Business Administration (HCBA) and the Economics, Finance & Marketing Department at the annual competition in 2011.  The team finished twelfth in the nation in overall team competition, with Reiling tying for 11th overall and Odneal tying for 43rd.  The 2011 competition included 61 teams comprising 122 students from universities throughout the United States and Canada.  Preparation for the competition began many months prior to the event under the coaching of Dr. Charles H. Schwepker and Ms. Cheryl K. Shattuck
