National Collegiate Sales Competition

2013 National Collegiate
Sales Competition

UCM Students compete at the National Collegiate Sales Competition

Each Spring, sales teams from various universities across the nation gather in Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the annual National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC). Students are judged on how well they perform during 20-minute sales presentations. The officials judging these presentations are a combination of college professors teaching sales and marketing, and sales and marketing executives. Presenting students have the opportunity to interact with CEOs, Directors of Marketing, Sales Managers and Human Resource Directors from major corporations at the job fair held in conjunction with the competition. Not only does the NCSC provide an excellent venue for student recruitment; it also allows students, marketing professors, and sales executives to come together and share knowledge with each other from their experience in the sales world.

The UCM sales team of Eli Clark and Kelli Morford represented the Harmon College of Business Administration (HCBA) and the Department of Economics, Finance & Marketing at the annual competition in 2013. The team finished seventeenth in the nation in overall team competition, with Clark placing 17th overall and Morford ranking 55th. The 2013 competition included 67 teams comprising 134 students from universities throughout the United States. Preparation for the competition began many months prior to the event under the coaching of Dr. Charles H. Schwepker and Ms. Cheryl K. Shattuck
