Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
Admission Criteria
To be accepted into this program, a student must have an undergraduate major in mathematics, or course work equivalent to a Central Missouri major in mathematics, with a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 in upper level mathematics courses. A student not meeting these minimum standards may consult the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science for possible acceptance on a conditional basis. Before completion of the program, a student must either pass a department comprehensive examination or write and successfully defend a thesis.
International students whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (Internet based) is required. IELTS scores are also accepted at UCM. Regular graduate students should have a band score of 6.0. The TOEFL requirement is waived for applicants who have completed a minimum of 60 semester credit hours or have earned bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in the USA.
