Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Position#998458)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Central Missouri is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin August 2015. We are looking for faculty excited by the prospect of shaping our department's future and contributing to its sustained excellence.

The Position: Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in computer science and developing new courses depending upon the expertise of the applicant and departmental needs, conducting research which leads toward peer-reviewed publications and/or externally funded grants, and program assessment. Faculty are expected to assist with departmental and university committee work and service activities, and advising majors. In particular, this faculty will serve as the coordinator for ABET accreditation, computer science general education courses, and Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) program.

Required Qualifications:

• M.S. in Computer Science is required. A doctorate must be completed before tenure and promotion consideration
• Demonstrated ability to teach existing courses at the undergraduate level
• Ability to develop a quality research program that involves students
• Commitment to engage in curricular development/assessment at the undergraduate level
• A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and continued professional growth
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scholarly interest in Computer Science Education
• Prior experiences in university teaching and ABET curriculum assessment
• Commitment to secure external funding
• Interest in mentoring senior projects

Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science and Mathematics (Position#998450)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Actuarial Science and Mathematics to begin in August 2015.

The Position: The primary responsibilities of the position are to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in actuarial science, mathematics, and statistics; participate in research and other scholarly activities; engage in student/faculty collaboration; advise students; and guide students in their professional development. Other responsibilities include service to the department, the university, and the profession. The typical teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. A reduced teaching load for research and other professional responsibilities is possible.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics by August, 10 2015. Successful candidates should be able to teach a variety of undergraduate and master’s level courses, including graduate courses in analysis and statistics. Preference will be given to candidates who are in the process of, or interested in, achieving an Associate or Fellow designation in the Society of Actuaries and can contribute to UCM earning the Centers of Actuarial Excellence designation. The Associate or Fellow designation in the Society of Actuaries must be obtained before promotion and tenure consideration. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and continued professional growth is essential.

Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Position#997495)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) invites applications for several non-tenure track assistant professor positions in Computer Science to begin in August 2015. We are looking for faculty excited by the prospect of shaping our department's future and contributing to its sustained excellence. This position might be renewable on a year to year basis pending upon performance, enrollment and budget.

The Position: Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and program assessment. Faculty are expected to assist with departmental and university committee work and service activities, and advising majors. The faculty will be expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester at UCM’s Warrensburg campus and/or Central Summit Center in Lee’s Summit MO.

Applicants must have Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related area by August 2015. ABD can be considered. Previous college/university teaching experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate should be able to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate computer science courses.
