Mission Statement
The Program defines its mission as follows: 1) to provide University Studies courses which develop language skills and promote awareness of international contexts, influences and applications, and sensivity to cross-cultural and diversity issues: 2) to offer undergraduate programs which enable majors and minors to effectively use their language skills and knowledge in teaching and any other career they may choose; 3) to promote global awareness through curricular, co-curricular and international opportunities: language organizations, study abroad, community partnership, international scholars; 4) to contribute to the scholarship of language, culture, and literature; 5) to acquire and implement appropriate technology for foreign language learning and acquision; 6) to use an assessment system that documents the competencies of students and provides developmental feedback to the student and teacher.
The reveiw of this mission statement was developed by the program as a whole and approved on December 6, 2005.
