Audition music will load in Acrobat Reader for printing from your personal computer. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you may download a free copy by visiting www.adobe.com/downloads. If you do not have access to a computer or printer you may request that printed copies of the audition music be mailed to you by calling the camp office or by e-mailing bands@ucmo.edu.

AUDITIONS BEGIN at Noon on Sunday, June 9, and END by 2:45 p.m. Those arriving too late to complete their audition by 2:45 may lose the opportunity to be in select ensembles and will be placed in the lowest chair in their instrumental large ensemble.

All 7th-graders (2012/13 school yr.) will be placed in the Symphonic Band, and auditions will be for chair placement only. 7th-Graders should prepare the appropriate audition excerpts from the 7th & 8th Grader Audition Excerpts below.

8th-12th graders* (2012/13 school yr.) will audition for placement and chair order in the most appropriate of the TWO bands and should prepare the appropriate audition excerpts from the Honor & Symphonic Band Excerpts below. 8th-grade band students may opt to audition only on the 7th/8th Grader Audition Excerpts, understanding that they will likely be placed in the Symphonic Band.

• Symphonic Band will include 7th-12th graders (based on audition).
• Honor Band will be made up of the top musicians, grades 8-12, (based on audition) on each instrument.

There are no auditions for mixed choir (Castle Chorale) or women's choir (Hart Singers)

Vocal auditions for show choir (Grace Notes) will consist of vocalizing scales, singing "My Country tis of Thee" & simple sight reading patterns.

Like vocal auditions, Jazz rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar, vibes, drum-set) auditions do not require prepared materials. Intersted students should simply report to the Jazz Audition room (Hudson 115) to play for Dr. Aaberg, Jazz Ensembles director.

Auditions for all other jazz band instruments will be based on the audition sheets below (click appropriate links below to download).

Students interested in the Middle School Jazz Band should download and prepare these same Jazz Audition Excerpts; please prepare only those sections of the music that you feel comfortable performing.
