Music scholarships at UCM are divided into two categories:
- Endowed Scholarships:
- Includes new and returning students

General Scholarship Information
- ADMISSION POLICY
- DOWNLOADABLE Music Scholarship Information Form (Please print and complete the form, and then bring it to the scholarship audition)
- Theory Placement Exam. Students pursuing a music major or minor will be required to take a brief Theory Placement Exam during their freshman orientation session.
- To be eligible for the maximum amount of university funded academic awards, incoming students must apply to the university by December 1. Students applying after December 1 will receive consideration, but may not qualify for the maximum Red and Black Scholarships.
To schedule an audition please complete the Music Scholarship Audition Registration. Scholarship funds will be committed by early March each year. Auditions scheduled after March each year may reduce scholarship opportunities. For more information or to arrange an alternate audition time contact one of the following UCM music faculty members:

The Keyboard Audition for music scholarships will consist of
- The performance of two or more classical works, preferably in contrasting styles.
- memorization is suggested.
- Sight reading skills may be tested if the student has expressed an interest in accompanying.
Additional information is available from the Keyboard Faculty.
The Voice Audition for music scholarships consists of
- Singing two songs before the Voice/Choral Faculty.
- should be memorized
- singers should furnish their own accompanist
- Sing scales and vocalise to demonstrate range
- Tonal memory and reading skills will also be tested
The songs should be similar to those sung for District Music Festival (click: "PML" in the menu list).
Wind, String and Percussion Auditions for music scholarships consist of
- Prepared solo(s) or etude(s)
- accompaniment is optional
- memorization is not a requirement
- Major scales (through four sharps and four flats)
- Sight reading
Literature one would perform for District Music Festival (click: "PML" in the menu list) would be very appropriate for the audition. Wind/Percussion materials used for the Missouri All-State Band Auditions would also be appropriate. Please contact applied instructor in your area for specific audition length and details. Students are encouraged to select literature which best reflects their musicianship and performance skills.
