WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 15, 2013) – The University of Central Office of Alumni Relations, the UCM Alumni Association and the UCM Foundation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication of The Achauer House, 314 South Holden Street, on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event will take place at approximately 11:15 a.m., following the UCM Homecoming Parade, which begins at 9 a.m.
The Achauer House
The Achauer House is the former home of the late Reynolds and Maurine Achauer. Following her husband’s death, Maurine Achauer continued to reside at her home, where she hosted many formal and informal gatherings of people from all walks of life. She made a gift of the home and surrounding property to UCM in 2008, prior to her death in 2009.
The university decided in 2012 to relocate the Office of Alumni Relations and the university’s events coordinators to the home. Following the necessary renovations to bring the home into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and to provide necessary technology access, alumni relations and events staff members relocated offices from the Smiser Alumni Center to the Achauer House during spring 2013.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is open to the public.
