WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 8, 2013) – Taking advantage of a communication tool frequently used by college students, University of Central Missouri President Charles Ambrose is getting ready for his first live Tweet Chat, planned for noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The Tweet Chat via Twitter will provide an open forum for the president to receive and answer questions from students, and to share information about important topics that relate to UCM and higher education. Although the event is geared toward students, anyone who is interested in UCM is welcome to join the conversation. Questions can be tweeted to the president @UCMAmbrose, or by using the hashtag #askAmbrose. Twitter users can also follow the conversation by setting up a stream with the hashtag.
Robin Krause, director of marketing and promotions in the Office of University Relations, said participating in a Tweet Chat to engage students is highly characteristic of UCM’s leader. Since coming to the university in 2010, Ambrose has used Twitter to communicate with students and other audiences, and has been known for his personal touch, helping students during move-in days and attending lunches with them in the residence halls, sitting in student sections at sporting events, and scheduling “walk and talks” with students on campus and downtown Warrensburg.
Ambrose said because “social media play a huge role in the lives of young people, it only makes sense, if you want to engage in a conversation with students, Twitter is a great place to do it.”
