Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (March 21, 2008) – Young artists will have an opportunity to share their creativity and talent with the public as the UCM’s Art Center Gallery hosts two student shows through the end of March.

Artists from 39 Area High Schools Will Exhibit

A total of 205 pieces of artwork created by students from 39 area high schools will be on exhibit in the High School Art Show. These works, created in a variety of media, will be on display in Gallery 115 and throughout the hallways in the Art Center at 217 E. Clark St. The works on display were selected for exhibit from 1,142 works submitted for consideration.

Citation Show Features the Best of UCM's Student Artists

UCM art majors and minors will exhibit their work in the Citation Student Awards Show in the Art Center’s Inner Gallery and Outer Gallery. The Citation Student Awards Show is a competitive, juried exhibit. Juror for the Citation Student Award Show will be Marcus Cain, artist and former editor of “Review” magazine in Kansas City. Cain will select the top three awards winners. In addition, the Mid-Missouri Artists, long a supporter of the UCM Art Center Gallery and its programs, will announce the Dorothy Hawksley Emerging Artist Award to three underclassmen.

Reception and Awards Planned

The Art Center Gallery will host a reception for student artists, their families and friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 30. Recipients of the Department of Art and Design Citation Achievement Awards will be announced at that time.
