UCM Athletics Gears Up for Big MIAA Contests

WARRENSBURG - 09/18/2007 -UCM Jennies volleyball and Mules football host MIAA rivals this week on the UCM campus in Warrensburg.
Jennies Face Defending MIAA Champs
The fifth-ranked Jennies volleyball squad (18-1, 5-0 MIAA) will face defending MIAA champion and eighth-ranked Truman State University (15-3, 3-0 MIAA) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Multipurpose Building. The Jennies then will welcome Fort Hays State to the Multi for another MIAA match at noon Saturday. The Jennies have won 14 straight matches entering the week.
Mules Host Military Appreciation Day
Saturday is Military Appreciation Day for the Fighting Mules (3-1, 2-0 MIAA) football game against seventh-ranked Pittsburg State (3-1, 1-1 MIAA). All active and retired military personnel and family members, with a military ID presented at the ticket window, will receive free entry to the 1:30 p.m. contest at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
Mule Train Pre-game Planned
The UCM Mule Train again will host a pre-game tailgate party for donors from 11:30 a.m. to kickoff prior to the football game. Food and beverage will be provided by the sponsors, the Missouri Pork Producers and Dairy Queen (coming in early 2008) in the lot north of the UCM Physical Plant.
Guests who are interested in joining Mule Train may accompany Mule Train members at a cost of $5 each. The Central Missouri Sports Network will be broadcasting live from the Mule Train tailgate lot with the Bob Showers Financial Tailgate Show beginning at 12:15 p.m. on 1450 KOKO and 98.5 The BAR.
Something for the Kids
The always popular "Mo Zone" with inflatable kids' games will be open on the east side of the stadium at 12:30 p.m, sponsored by 1450 KOKO/98.5 The BAR and UCM Union, Meeting and Conference Services.
Enjoy Fitter's Scoreboard Show
Following the Mules-Gorillas game, all UCM fans are invited to Fitter's in downtown Warrensburg for the Fitter's Scoreboard Show, live on 1450 KOKO/ 98.5 The BAR. Programming include interviews with UCM coaches and scores from NCAA Division II, The MIAA, Big 12 and more.
Additional Tailgating Lot Added
With a large crowd expected for the Mules football game against Pittsburg State this Saturday at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field, Central Missouri athletics will be opening another tailgate lot at the corner of South and Holden (lots 1 and 26).
The new lots will be in addition to the usual lot north of the UCM Physical Plant on South Street (lot 67), which has a section designated for Mule Train members and guests. The lots will be available starting at 11:30 a.m. until the start of the third quarter of the football game. The only entry and exit must be through the designated points and all alcoholic beverages must be placed in plastic cups that will be provided upon entry to the lots. Beverages cannot be taken from the lots. Possession or consumption of alcohol by persons under the age of 21 is not allowed.
