Big Band Dance, Alumni Choral Concert Offer Opportunity to Support the Arts
Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (Aug. 4, 2008) – Enjoy an evening of song and swing while supporting the arts by attending the UCM Alumni Chorus and Big Band Dinner and Dance Saturday, Sept. 6.
Support the Fine and Performing Arts at UCM
Hosted by UCM’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the event will raise funds for the fine and performing arts, in particular the expansion of the university’s music technology program. Growing from eight majors at its inception in 2000 to 80 majors today, the program has quickly developed a reputation for excellence and has outgrown its current facilities.
Reception and Dinner Precede Alumni Choral Concert and Dance
The evening’s festivities will begin with a 6 p.m. reception in the atrium of the Elliott Union, with accompaniment provided by some of the university’s finest student musicians. Following a 6:30 dinner in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom, Conan Castle, professor emeritus of music, and Lisa Fredenburgh, newly appointed director of choral activities at UCM, will lead a performance by the UCM Alumni Choir.
To cap off the evening, Russ Coleman, professor emeritus of music, and his UCM Big Band will get the crowd on their feet for an evening of dancing to the music of the Big Band era.
For More Information
Individual tickets for the benefit are $40 ($25 for UCM Alumni Choir singers) or $320 will sponsor a table for eight guests. For information or reservations contact Alumni Relations and Development at 660-543-8000, toll free 1-866-752-7257.
