UCM Named a Best Midwestern College

UCM Named a Best Midwestern College

Contact: Jeff Murphy
WARRENSBURG -09/12/2007 - Citing a national survey that garnered positive student comments in areas such as academics, The Princeton Review has named UCM a Best Midwestern College.

One of 161 Schools in Midwest Recognized

This designation is found at The Princeton Review’s Best Colleges: Region by Region  online. UCM is listed as one of 161 schools in the Midwest to be recognized. A total of 654 colleges nationwide are listed on this web site, which also covers the Northeast, West, and Southeast regions of the country.

Excellent Academics, Wide Range of Choices

“We commend these institutions for their excellent academics and we believe our choices offer applicants and their parents in these regions a wide range of fine schools to consider applying to,” said Robert Franek, publisher and editorial director for The Princeton Review.

Student Input Considered

Best Midwestern Colleges were selected with the help of student input. Some comments expressed by students are noted in campus profiles that are available on the web. According to The Princeton Review, “Students choose UCM because it is ‘affordable,’ ‘offers a wide variety of programs,’ and ‘is a nice size - not too large or too small.’” It also notes that “A typical UCM student ‘works hard to achieve her personal goals and still finds time to have fun.’ ”

Best Undergraduate Value

The selection of UCM as a Best Midwestern College follows an April 2007 announcement that UCM was listed as “one of the nation’s best value undergraduate institutions” in The Princeton Review’s 2008 edition of the book, America’s Best Value Colleges (Random House/Princeton Review).  Such recognition is consistent with UCM President Aaron Podolefsky’s vision to make the institution more nationally known.
