WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 2, 2012) – Area residents can help honor the men and women who serve their country while also saving lives during the Military Appreciation Blood Drive 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the University of Central Missouri.
The UCM Office of Military and Veteran Services, the Student Veterans Organization, ROTC Fighting Mules, and Volunteer Services at UCM are working with the American Red Cross to sponsor the blood drive in honor of Veterans Day, to be observed nationally this year on Monday, Nov. 12. The Blood Drive, which also includes informational displays by vendors who serve active duty military personnel and veterans, will take place on Nov. 9 on the lower gymnasiums of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
On the same day as the blood drive, a silent "come and go" pre-Veterans Day remembrance ceremony will be held in the university’s Alumni Memorial Chapel from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Individuals may go to the chapel for a moment of reflection and add their loved ones’ names to the poster boards which will be displayed over the Veterans Day weekend in the Military and Veterans Success Center.
Individuals who want to donate blood can do so by making an appointment at redcrossblood.org (Sponsor code: UCMO). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will take priority. All donors must present photo IDs.
