Contact Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (June 15, 2012) – The University of Central Missouri welcomes the 73rd session of the annual American Legion Missouri Boys State to campus June 16-23.
More than 900 high school juniors from across the state will arrive Saturday, joining more than 100 staff members for the week-long, hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. Missouri Boys State draws together the best and brightest high school juniors to experience leadership through doing, not just learning.
Boys State citizens will be offered to opportunity to hear from elected national, state and local officials, along with speakers whose individual successes reinforce the message of Boys State.
Using the democratic system as a basis, Missouri Boys State equips the participants, or citizens, each year to construct their own state. Citizens are taught the need for competition, the value of public service and the strength of the individual voice and vote.
