Contact Jeff Murphy
WARRENSBURG, MO (March 23, 2010) – The State University of New York Board of Trustees today approved a recommendation by the school system's chancellor to appoint Aaron M. Podolefsky president of Buffalo State College, Buffalo, NY. He assumes his duties July 1.
Podolefsky, who became the University of Central Missouri’s 14th president in 2005, will succeed Dennis K. Ponton, who began serving as interim president Aug. 1, 2009, when Muriel A. Howard, Buffalo State’s president since 1996, stepped down to assume the presidency of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C.
Buffalo State shares some similarities to UCM in that it was founded in 1871, the same year UCM was founded, and has a student population of about 11,000. It also offers 152 undergraduate and 61 graduate programs in the arts, sciences, professions and education.
