Elliott Union Unveils Plans for Cafe Rouge

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Sept. 21, 2011) — Design renderings for a new coffee house setting in the Elliott Union were unveiled at the Elliott Union Open House Sept. 21
The new coffee house, which will be composed of the current Jazzman’s coffee shop and the seating area south of it, will be named Café Rouge, which means Red Café in French. The café area will feature new furniture and will be a venue for open mic nights, discussion groups and other student events throughout the year.
These new additions will complement Jazzman’s extended hours that began this fall. Café Rouge will serve Jazzman’s coffees, which are Fair Trade Certified from sustainable sources, from 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday though Thursday and 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday.
In addition to the debut of plans for Café Rouge, the Union Open House included a ribbon cutting for the new DVD rental kiosk in the Union Bowling Center. and numerous games and contests for students.
Elliott Union is considered the “campus living room” and is open to students and the public seven days a week. The services available in the building include U.S. Bank, the UCM ID Card Office, the Union Bowling Center, the University Store, numerous retail food vendors and the Office of Student Activities.
