WARRENSBURG, MO (Jan. 28, 2009) - Five awards representing efforts in multiple communication areas were presented to the University of Central Missouri’s Office of University Relations during a professional conference in Kansas City Monday, Jan. 26.
University Relations staff captured four Gold Awards and one Bronze Award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s District VI Awards Competition. The office has won awards in the annual conference each of the past five years. Entries were judged against those submitted by CASE members at colleges and universities of all sizes in an eight-state region that covers Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota and Wyoming.
“This awards program gives us an opportunity to take a look at what we’re doing, and see what we can be doing better in comparison to our peers. It’s great when they recognize our work,” said Jeff Morris, assistant vice president for university relations. He noted that all of the awards were made possible by the contributions of many campus constituents who collaborated with the office on projects that were entered in the competition.
Gold Awards were presented in categories that included Excellence in Graphic Design for Today magazine cover design; Excellence in Writing for the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies web site; Excellence in Graphic Design for the season’s greetings e-communication card; and Excellence in Institutional Relations for media placements regarding Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s March 2008 visit to UCM. The university also received a Bronze Award for Excellence in Graphic Design for its UCM crest institutional identity program.
