Faculty, Students Team Up for Dancing with the Professors

WARRENSBURG, MO (April 29, 2013) - The UCM Dance Club will present its annual spring fundraiser, Dancing with the Professors, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the James L. Highlander Theatre.
The annual fundraiser is an evening of various ballroom and popular dance styles performed by UCM students and faculty. The event is choreographed by UCM students, danced by some of UCM’s bravest faculty, and judged by selected UCM faculty and staff and audience members. Admission $5 at the door. The proceeds will benefit the UCM Dance Club through the UCM Foundation.
Dancing with the Professors showcases an ensemble of 12 dancers – six faculty members and six students. Mollie Dinwiddie, dean of library services, is paired with Justin Barron, and Daniel Schierenbeck, professor of English, with Kelly Krasuski. Nancy Forth, associate professor of counselor education, will dance with with Daniel Parman, and Jeff Imboden, director of the Performing Arts Series, will be paired with Lindsey Freihoff. Karen Fahrmeier, coordinator of the THRIVE Program, will dance with Natasha Parsons, and Karen Foster, associate professor of educational foundations and literacy, will dance with with John Markley.
The evening will provide entertainment on the dance floor with original works including foxtrot, mambo, waltz, Bollywood, salsa, merengue, cha-cha, east coast swing, hip-hop, jazz, and musical theatre dance.
The judging panel includes Ashley Miller, assistant professor of dance; UCM President Chuck Ambrose; Gersham Nelson, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and Beth Rutt, director of student activities.
