Chef and Activist Bryant Terry to Speak at Earth Day 365 Celebration

WARRENSBURG, MO. (April 16, 2012) – The University of Central Missouri will host an evening with chef and food activist Bryant Terry at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 in the Elliott Union ballroom. Terry’s presentation is the highlight of UCM’s Earth Day 365 celebration, “Change your behavior, change our world.”
Terry, also an author, is the keynote speaker for Earth Day 365’s week-long schedule of events. Terry will speak about his latest book, “The Inspired Vegan,” which is about the fusion of food, music, art and storytelling. The topic of Terry’s keynote address is “Food justice: the intersection of food, politics, poverty, public health and the environment.”
Following the keynote address, there will be a book signing of “The Inspired Vegan,” which can be purchased at the UCM University Store in the Elliott Union. This event is free and open to the public.
Terry has appeared on “The Martha Stewart Show” and “Emeril Green” television programs, along with an article in “Oprah” magazine about his vegan lifestyle. “VegNews” magazine chose “The Inspired Vegan” as the “Editor’s Pick” in its April 2012 issue. Terry started the Southern Organic Kitchen Project and b-healthy! (Build Healthy Eating and Lifestyles to Help Youth) to teach communities and children about affordable and sustainable food systems.
