Open House Planned for UCM's Energy Park and Learning Center

WARRENSBURG, MO (Aug.. 4, 2009) - UCM will host an open house from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6 at the university’s Energy Park and Learning Center, located at 130 NW 251, just east of the Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport.
The Energy Park and Learning Center is a key element of UCM’s commitment to sustainability. The park is home to UCM’s Center for Alternative Fuels and Environmental Systems, which brings consulting expertise, product development and opportunities for student research together in one location.
The public is invited to attend and learn about the future of the park. Following remarks by UCM President Aaron Podolefsky and Alice Greife, dean of the UCM College of Science and Technology, Harvey Buhr of Hitec LLC, Jefferson City and Bonnots Mill, will make a special presentation to the university. Hitec LLC has been a key partner in the success of the CAFES and the development the prototype of the bioreactor housed at the park. Mark Manley, interim director of UCM’s Institute Entrepreneurial Studies and Development, will speak about the importance of the relationship between the CAFES and the IESD, which assists in the development of a client base for services provided by the CAFES, and Scott McKay, director of the CAFES, will make a special presentation to Hitec.
Local and state officials also will attend the event as guests of the university.
