Mainstage Production Tests Society's Preconceived Notions

Tickets are available now for the UCM Department of Theatre mainstage production of Fat Pig by Neil Labute. Julie Rae Pratt, associate professor of theatre, is director of the contemporary comedy/drama presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20-23 and 2 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Highlander Theatre.
Fat Pig takes place in a metropolitan area during the summer of 2008. Tom and Helen are falling in love, leaving friends Carter and Jeannie struggling to understand the connection between the big, beautiful Helen and the upscale Tom. Fat Pig examines our 21st century notions of beauty and body image, as well as our ability to change what we do and do not like about ourselves.
UCM students featured in the production are Taylor Gozia as Tom, Crystal Mann as Helen, Christopher Taylor as Carter, and Zadi Khalsa as Jeannie.
The theatre box office in Wood 128 is open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Tickets are $10 for the general public; $8 for UCM faculty, staff and senior citizens; and $6 for students. Children under the age of 5 years old will not be admitted. The play contains adult content.
