WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 23, 2009) – UCM's Department of Music choral and vocal area will usher in the holiday season with the annual Feast of Carols Concert Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Hart Recital Hall.
The concert will feature the combined voices of University Concert Choir, Collegiate Choir, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. The performances are free and open to the public.
The choirs will present traditional holiday carols in a fast-paced performance. The audience will be invited to sing along to holiday favorites such as “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Deck the Halls” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The choirs also will perform standards such as “White Christmas” and “Christmas Time Is Here,” as well as combined works such as John Rutter’s “Gloria” and Michael Praetorius’ “In Dulci Jubillo.”
Special appearances by the two student quartets, Lyrical Ladies and Gentlemen of Note, will round out the evening.
The holiday concert was expanded to two performances this year due to its growing popularity.
“Last year we had to turn people away at the door because we had a packed house, so we decided to offer two performances of the same concert this year,” said Lisa Fredenburgh, director of choral activities in the UCM Department of Music.
The public is invited to join this celebration of song and special holiday spirit, as well as some wassail following the concert in the Utt Music Building Lobby.
