Festival of Champions Takes the Field

WARRENSBURG - 10/25/2007 - Students from more than 20 high schools from three states will participate in the 2007 Festival of Champions as UCM hosts the annual marching band competition at Audrey J. Walton Stadium Saturday, Nov. 3.
Marching Bands Compete
Preliminary marching band competition begins at 10:40 a.m. on Vernon Kennedy Field at Walton Stadium. Following a break for lunch from noon to 1 p.m., competition resumes and ends with a performance by UCM’s Marching Mules and preliminary awards at 4:20 p.m. Finals competition begins at 6:30 p.m., with awards scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
Drumlines and Auxiliary Groups also Participate
Indoor drum line competition begins at 8 a.m. in Garrison Gymnasium, followed by indoor auxiliary group competition, which begins at 10 a.m., also in Garrison Gymnasium.
Proceeds Benefit Scholarship Fund, Shrine Burn Center
Admission is $10 for the field competition and $5 if attending only the auxiliary and drum competitions. All proceeds will benefit the UCM Department of Music Scholarship Fund for the wind and percussion areas and the Shrine Burn Center Transportation Fund.
Schools from Missouri, Kansas and Iowa
Schools registered to compete include Cole Camp, El Dorado Springs, Francis Howell Central, Fort Osage, Higginsville, Springfield Hillcrest, Springfield Kickapoo, Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit North, Lee’s Summit West, Leeton, Marshall, Mexico, Odessa, Olathe East, Olathe South, Springfield Parkview, Shawnee Missouri South, Shawnee Mission North, Warrensburg, Willard, William Chrisman and Woodward Academy.
