Freedom Festival Offers Fun for All

WARRENSBURG - 07/02/2007- Fireworks will light the night sky on July 4 as Warrensburg's Freedom Festival caps off a day of activities with a fireworks display at the northwest corner of the UCM Multipurpose Building parking lot.

Community Band Provides Patriotic Music
Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the program of patriotic music presented by the Warrensburg Community Band at 8 p.m., followed by the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. To assure a safe and enjoyable fireworks display, King Street between Warren and Mulberry streets will be closed from 8:30 p.m. until the end of the evening.
A Full Day of Activities Planned
Additional activities planned for July 4 include a 5K Walk/Run at 8 a.m., sponsored by the Warrensburg Parks and Recreation Department. The run begins at the Warrensburg Depot at 100 S. Holden.
Following the run, Parks and Recreation will provide game, clowns, music and more for children at the Johnson County Courthouse. The Kids' Patriotic Parade around the courthouse square begins at 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m. Talley's Tumblers also will perform.
For afternoon entertainment, Parks and Recreation will offer free swimming from 1-5 p.m. at Nassif Pool in Grover Park.
