WARRENSBURG, MO (March 26, 2012) – University of Central Missouri alumnus and U.S. Navy MUC Daryl Duff will return to the Hendricks Hall stage as the featured guest artist at the annual President’s Gala Concert planned for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4.
Duff will join several UCM vocal and instrumental ensembles onstage for the concert. The UCM Jazz Ensemble, Choir, Orchestra and Band each will perform, with Duff joining each group. Duff will join all three groups for the concert finale, a performance of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
A 1988 graduate of UCM, Duff is known for his rendition of “Old Man River” during a Homecoming football game halftime performance that generated a 60-second standing ovation. Following graduation from UCM, Duff joined the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters following recruit training in 1990. He continues to be a featured performer with the group in venues such as Kennedy Center, Constitution Hall, Wolf Trap, and New York’s Carnegie Hall and Central Park. He has been a featured performer with the Army Band and orchestras such as the National Symphony, Kansas City, Cincinnati Pops, Chesapeake, Penfield and Greely Philharmonic.
Duff is featured on seven Navy Band recordings. In December 2010 he released his first solo recording, “From Me To You,” an eclectic collection of hymns, contemporary Christian, classical and patriotic songs.
A reception will follow the concert in the UCM Wellness Center. The public is invited to attend.
