Art Center Gallery Opens New Season
Contact: Brenda Mackey
WARRENSBURG - 8/08/2006 -
UCM's Art Center Gallery opens the new exhibit season with a one-woman show in the Outer Gallery by photographer Jamie Kreher.
"Some Islands" Examines Often Overlooked Subject
Kreher’s new collection, "Some Islands," is a photographic examination of an everyday, but often overlooked, sight: parking lots. The exhibit of photos combines humor and pathos with Kreher’s keen design sense for noticing patterns in an overlooked or ignored aspect of our environment.
Kreher recently earned a graduate degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Completed Renovations Give Gallery a New Look
The exhibit follows recent renovations at the Art Center Gallery, located in UCM's Art Center at 217 E. Clark St. Following the installation of new hardwood flooring and replacement of carpeted wall surfaces with new painted wall surfaces last winter, a new ceiling and track light system were installed this summer, completing the renovation.
Exhibits Runs Through Aug. 18
The exhibit runs through Aug. 18, and is open to the public. Summer gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information contact Michael Crane, gallery director, or call the Art Center Gallery at 660-543-4498.
