WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 15, 2013) – The Gallery of Art and Design and the Art Education program at the University of Central Missouri will host Gallery Kids from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the gallery, located at 217 E. Clark in Warrensburg.
Kids ages 5-12 are invited to create their own works with the current gallery exhibit of works by Kansas City, Mo., artist Gabriella Polony-Mountain as inspiration. Each student participating will leave with his or her own work of art, created with the assistance of UCM art education students.
Enrollment is open on a first come, first served basis, with the class limited to 20. There is no charge for the event.
“Thirteen kids participated in the September Gallery Kids event, and registration is filling up for October,” said Christian Cutler, gallery director. “We created this event as a way to reach out to the community in an effort to bring more community members into the UCM’s Gallery of Art and Design, which is a wonderful space to experience regional, national and international visual art and design.”
Cutler added that gallery exhibits change every three to four weeks. In addition to Gallery Kids, the gallery also is hosting a series of four film screenings this year.
