WARRENSBURG, MO (July 28, 2011) – Football, food, games, entertainment and opportunities for area vendors will be available at the 2011 Get the Red Out celebration, hosted by the University of Central Missouri and the Greater Warrensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. Everyone is invited to these free festivities planned for 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 on South Holden Street, west of the Elliott Union.
Get the Red Out is an opportunity for the university and the community to come together in showing their UCM spirit while also celebrating the beginning of a new academic year at the university. Activities are geared to people of all ages, and there are plenty of opportunities for family fun before venturing off to watch the Fighting Mules battle the Missouri Southern University Lions. The first home football game of the 2011 season kicks off at 7 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
Activities include special entertainment sponsored by UCM’s Broadcasting Services, as well as games such as hoop shooting with the Mules and Jennies basketball players, inflatables for children, food items, and informational booths.
Get the Red Out also is a great way for businesses, non-profit groups, and student organizations to reach out to members of the campus and local community. Anyone who wants to share information about their products, services and projects, or simply keep people informed about their organizations is encouraged to sponsor a booth. Individuals who want to reserve space for an informational booth are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Vendor registration forms can be obtained online, at the UCM Office of Publishing and Promotions, located in General Services Building, 116 W. South St., Room 103, or in the Office of Campus Activities in Elliott Union, Room 217. The deadline for vendor registration is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26.
