Graham Named Chief Information Officer at UCM

WARRENSBURG, MO (March 31, 2010) –The Board of Governors has formally approved the appointment of Jim Graham as the next Chief Information Officer at UCM. Graham will co-lead the Division of Information Services through a transitional period beginning April 1 with Russell Helm, current chief information officer, who is stepping down from his position after 14 years of service to UCM.
Graham comes to the position of CIO with 10 years of experience at UCM, consisting of positions asssistant director of User Services and director of Information Technology Services within the Division of Information Services. Prior to his tenure at UCM, he served as the director of University Computer Services at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR., and the director of computer services at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, KS. Graham has extensive experience leading teams of technical staff supporting academic as well as administrative technology, with a doctoral degree in education administration earned through UCM’s cooperative program with the University of Missouri.
“In the past 10 years at UCM, I’ve seen Jim develop professionally and personally,” Helm said. “I believe Jim will provide solid leadership for the division in the coming years.”
Helm is leaving the position of UCM’s CIO having developed a full-span, coordinated technology environment that supports the mission of the university well. His career at UCM was highlighted first by his development of a network-based academic support environment including open and focused departmental and college labs throughout the campus. Under Helm’s leadership, the university implemented an integrated administrative environment, based primarily on the deployment of the Banner ERP system, which replaced every major administrative computing module on campus.

From the directors of the various departments, through each of their staffs, Information Services employees go the extra mile to meet the needs of the university and its user community,” he said. “Given the transition in divisional leadership currently underway, I’m certain this will continue into the future.”
