Hentges Recognized by Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society

WARRENSBURG, MO (July 7, 2014) – Julie Hentges, associate professor of elementary and childhood education at the University of Central Missouri, has been named recipient of the 2013-2014 Midwest Regional Chapter Counselor of the Year Award for the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
Hentges will receive the award at the group’s national convocation Oct. 22-24 at Orlando, Fla.
The Regional Chapter Counselor Award recognizes one chapter counselor from each region who excels in his or her role. Nominations are reviewed and the selection is made based upon how the recipient models leadership, motivates and communicates with chapter members, impacts the education careers of chapter officers and members, is involved in chapter programs and activities, and exemplifies the mission and ideals of the society.
Hentges received her Ed.D. degree from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minn. She served on the faculty at Avila University and Rockhurst University prior to joining the faculty at UCM. She has worked with school districts across the state as a reading specialist and educational consultant. She has presented instructional strategies for comprehensive literacy at the Missouri IRA Conference, Write to Learn Conference, Missouri State Reading Recovery Conference, and the Missouri Primary Conference.
